The Hilton Garden Inn Mankato is located in Mankato, Minnesota, and is a modern hotel featuring 9 floors and encompassing approximately 150,000 square feet.
It offers around 118 guest rooms and a range of amenities, including an indoor pool, fitness center, business center, and a restaurant.
The hotel also offers approximately 7,500 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, ideal for a wide range of functions. Designed for both business and leisure travellers, the Hilton Garden Inn Mankato combines contemporary design with modern conveniences to ensure a comfortable stay.
Objectives
The project’s scope was comprehensive, involving a detailed retrofit of 23 Variable Air Volume (VAV) units and 3 Zoned rooftop units within a Variable Volume and Temperature (VVT) system. This task required rewiring the VAVs and replacing the existing communication wiring to ensure optimal performance. However, the project team strategically reused the existing low voltage wiring, which powered and controlled the VAVs, providing a cost-efficient solution without compromising on quality.
We repurposed the existing temperature control wiring to integrate 23 new wall sensors with VAV units for precise climate control. The three zoned rooftop units were controlled by Prolon PLM2000 RTU Controllers, and the 2 MUA units by PL-M2000 MUA Controllers. This streamlined installation significantly upgraded the building’s HVAC system, enhancing both comfort and efficiency.
Solutions
We chose Prolon for this project because it was the perfect fit for our building. With a history of proven reliability, Prolon’s nonproprietary control system offered exactly what we needed without the hassle of expensive programming. The fact that there are no annual fees and that the system view updates automatically when connected to Wi-Fi was a big plus. What really stood out, though, was the excellent Prolon customer service. Knowing we could reach a live representative for quick, free support gave us the confidence that Prolon was the right choice for us.
Benefits
The older equipment was replaced with modern, efficient Prolon systems that facilitated easy remote access. This retrofit enhanced overall control of the space and provided significant cost-saving benefits. Prolon eliminates licensing fees and offers free updates that are backwards compatible with older Prolon controls. This compatibility extends the system’s lifespan and results in long-term savings.
