The Client:
Heart to Heart International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing global health through a range of initiatives. They distribute essential supplies and resources to communities in need, especially in disaster situations and regions with significant healthcare challenges.
The organization also mobilizes healthcare professionals to provide medical services and support in underserved and crisis-affected areas. In addition to these efforts, Heart to Heart International works to strengthen healthcare systems, aiming to improve the quality and accessibility of care in under-resourced communities.
Objectives:
Heart to Heart International sought to upgrade from their outdated Trane Tracker system, aiming to implement a state-of-the-art control system. Their primary goal was to enhance the building’s overall comfort and significantly improve energy efficiency. By investing in this advanced solution, they aspired to create a more responsive and adaptive environment that would not only meet their immediate needs but also align with their long-term sustainability goals.
Solutions:
Prolon was selected for this project due to its ideal balance of sophistication and simplicity.
A full-scale programmable system, while powerful, would have been excessively expensive and unnecessarily complex for the client’s specific needs. The Prolon system offered the perfect solution, delivering robust functionality without overwhelming the user with features that were not required.
The project itself was ambitious, involving the integration of 35 rooftop units (RTUs), which included 8 zoning RTUs and 27 single-zone RTUs, effectively managing a total of 38 distinct zones. This tailored approach ensured optimal climate control across the entire building, providing both comfort and efficiency while keeping costs in check.
Benefits:
The outdated Trane Tracker system was replaced with a new Prolon system, bringing a significant improvement in the overall control of the building’s environment. This upgrade allowed the building owner to achieve enhanced comfort and efficiency across the space. A key advantage of the Prolon system was its compatibility with the existing infrastructure, enabling the reuse of most of the communication wiring. This not only minimized disruption but also resulted in a highly cost-effective solution, making the upgrade both seamless and economical for the client.
